Singh brother fight turns ugly: Malvinder accuses Shivinder of assault

The battle between Singh brothers reached a new low with Malvinder Mohan Singh alleging that he was assaulted by his younger brother Shivinder Mohan Singh at their Connaught place office. However, sources on the other side rubbished the allegations calling them “lies” and that Shivinder wouldn’t hurt a bird.

“Today is December 5, 2018. A little after 6 pm Shivinder Mohan Singh assaulted me at 55, Hanuman road. He physically hit me. He hurt me. He injured me here. He broke this button and bruised me here. He kept threatening me. And, Refused to budge until team here separated him from me,” a visibly shaken Malvinder is seen saying in a half a minute video. Malvinder did not respond to a Whatsapp message asking if he has filed any complaint with the police.

Sources close to Shivinder described it as an attempt to gain sympathy and that nothing has happened to Malvinder. The altercation seemed to have happened when Malvinder allegedly tried to record some statements from the staff.

The video surfaced late on Thursday, ahead of a crucial hearing in the Delhi High Court, where they are fighting Japanese drug major Daiichi Sankyo over an arbitral award relating to the sale of Ranbaxy Labs, the drug major run by their father Parvinder Singh and grandfather Bhaimohan Singh. 55, Hanuman road is the registered office of Oscar Investments, one of the investment firms jointly owned by brothers. Though brothers have been not on talking terms for months now, they have been attending office on and off. The staff have been reporting to both as they both hold equal stakes in the group holding firm RHC Holding.

Shivinder had initially moved the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) alleging oppression and mismanagement in RHC, but later withdrew the petition. The brothers had later agreed to settle things through a mediation by their ailing mother.

Family battles are not new to the Ranbaxy family. A decade ago, Nimmi Singh herself had led a fiesty battle against her brother in law Analjit Singh over family assets. However, surprisingly, they quickly settled.

Nimmi’s cousin and the family’s spiritual guru Gurinder Singh Dhillon is said to have facilitated the quick settlement at that time. However, now assets held by some Dhillon family members have also become a subject of the case before Delhi HC.
